A valid Contractor will never ask you to obtain any permits.  We advise ,  for your protection ,  to request from a potential Contractor you are considering their " Pocket ID Card" from the State of TN as well as providing you with an insurance certificate listing you as an "additional insured" on their policy.   Insurance does not cover poor workmanship.
